The care of shrimp varies depending on the species, but in general, they require a well-maintained aquarium with appropriate water parameters, adequate temperature, and a balanced diet.
The frequency of feeding depends on the age and species of your shrimp. In general, it is recommended to feed them small amounts once a day or even every other day.
For healthy molting and vibrant colors, it is vital to offer them a varied diet. You should therefore alternate between enriched and non-enriched pellets, dried leaves, and supplements such as spirulina, as this is ideal for preventing
deficiencies. Also, be careful not to overfeed them, as this can lead to water quality problems. You should always check your nitrate levels carefully.
Caridina shrimp require different water parameters than Neocaridina shrimp and therefore should never be kept together.
Although some subspecies within Caridina or Neocaridina can
coexist together, it is not advisable to mix shrimp varieties in order to maintain the purity of the strain.
Finally, mixing Neocaridina varieties is not a good idea either, as crossbreeding will eventually result in wild-type offspring that are transparent brown in color.
