Passionate for over 20 years
My passion began in childhood…
I was nine years old when I first discovered an aquarium with a betta fish and a few neon tetras at my neighbors’ house. It was love at first sight! I was amazed by this ecosystem. After begging my parents, the adventure could begin, and I got my first aquarium. It was only a small 40-liter aquarium with neon tetras, but thanks to it, I was able to learn the basics… I cared for, progressed, and developed this little world until I finished my studies.
Having always been an animal lover and with my sales studies under my belt, I started working for the largest pet store chain in Belgium. Over the course of 10 years, I worked my way up through the ranks: from pet salesperson to animal caretaker to animal manager, and finally to store manager. An aquarium enthusiast at heart, I never stopped learning and improving my skills, working with various aquariums:
– Freshwater aquariums: Chinese veiltails, neon tetras, guppies, mollies, platies, cardinal tetras, tetras, angelfish, and finally discus fish…
– Saltwater aquariums with pterapogon, hepatus, leucosternon, chelmon, parrotfish, mandarin fish…
– A large 3-meter (1500 L) reef aquarium with a collection of the rarest and most difficult to maintain corals: Euphyllia, Trachyphyllia, Cynarina, Scolymia, Wilsoni, etc. You can follow my progress on Instagram (Passion4reef).
– Seahorse aquarium
– Thor amboinensis saltwater shrimp aquarium
– Dendrobates and vampire crab paludariums, etc.
But my love for freshwater shrimp has remained unchanged for 15 years. It’s a world apart, a unique universe that fascinates me…
Today, after getting my little family involved in this passion, I have more than 60 aquariums for breeding freshwater shrimp (more than 50 species).
